Life History of Charles Darwin | Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution by natural selection

Life History of Charles Darwin

February 12, 1809 – Birth of Charles Darwin

Charles Darwin by Matthew BandsuchOn this day in history Charles Robert Darwin was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. He died at the age of 73, but his theory of evolution has persisted. In his landmark 1859 publication, On the Origin of Species, Darwin presented meticulous evidence that all life descended from common ancestors, with differentiation of species resulting from a process of natural selection. How is this selection accomplished? I, for one, love the theory offered by this animated version of a New Yorker cartoon.

Want to know more about how Darwin derived his theories? One possible source is a book by one of my favorite authors, David Quammen.

How much is a charles darwin two pound coin worth?

Australia hasn't had pounds since 1966 and we never had a 2 pound coin, or even a one pound coin for that matter. I think you should ask this question in the UK section rather than in Australia. The "Darwin" in the section name refers to the city of Darwin which is the capital of the Northern Territory.
